The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) represents the country’s leading innovative biopharmaceutical research companies, which are devoted to discovering and developing medicines that enable patients to live longer and healthier lives. PhRMA is committed to advancing public policies in the United States and around the world that support innovative medical research and progress for patients, ensure innovative medicines are accessible and affordable for patients and provide hope for the treatments and cures of tomorrow.
For more than 30 years, the U.S. biopharmaceutical industry has been the world leader in the development of new medicines, and PhRMA member companies continue to be at the forefront. Our member companies have pushed the boundaries of science, investing more than $1.1 trillion in new technology, research, treatments, and vaccines that help advance medicines for patients everywhere. These innovators will continue investing in research and discovery to develop new medicines to help people worldwide live longer, healthier lives.
At PhRMA, we believe that building a more just and equitable health care system must include a focus on increasing diverse talent to drive real change within the industry.
We’re working to provide better access to the biopharmaceutical industry through scholarships, investments in underserved communities, and by providing support and mentorship to those who need it.

PhRMA is committed to addressing health inequities and improving health outcomes for underserved communities. In 2020, we created the PhRMA Equity Initiative to advance these goals. Since then, we have dedicated significant time and resources toward health equity, clinical trial diversity, and diverse talent. Meaningful change only happens when we work together to build trust with the communities who have faced ongoing inequities.
PhRMA partners with a variety of organizations through grants, events, and advocacy efforts to support underrepresented and underserved communities.
